I’m John Cliff Alvarez, an Art Director + Senior Designer with 10+ years of experience creating brand, campaign and digital work across advertising, web, product, social and print.

I’m a hands-on designer at heart. I enjoy developing the visual direction behind an idea, but I also want to get into the details and make it, from typography and identity to campaign design, responsive web and interactive experiences.

My background spans graphic design, art direction, illustration and product design. That range lets me move comfortably between concept development and execution, while staying focused on what the work needs rather than a single medium or tool.

I’ve worked across agency and client environments, collaborating with creative directors, writers, strategists, developers and production teams to bring ideas from concept through final execution.

Drawing has always been part of how I think visually and continues to influence the way I approach composition, storytelling and design. More recently, I’ve also been integrating generative AI selectively into concepting and production workflows, using it to expand exploration and move faster while keeping the creative judgment behind the final work firmly designer-led.
